Welcome to EC202 - Principles of Economics II,
Welcome to the study of economics. Economics is a fascinating and relevant subject. Indeed, economics is everywhere and impacts everyone.
Emphasis in EC 202 is on microeconomics and the study of decision making by households, businesses, and governments.
This course will help you understand the world around you and make better decisions throughout your life.

CATALOG DESCRIPTION
Covers microeconomic theory half of a one-year course in economics including supply and demand; demand and utility; analysis of costs and long-run supply; problems of agriculture; profit maximization; imperfect competition; theory of production; pricing of factor inputs; interest; international trade; and current economic problems, such as poverty, affluence, race, cities, and polluted environment.
COURSE PREREQUISITES
High school algebra or its equivalent or consent of department. [Note: EC 201 is not a prerequisite for EC 202.]
TEXTBOOK
"Economics", by Mankiw, (4th or 5th edition) [You may purchase this book at the Germantown, MC bookstore.]
"Economics for Life", by Bruce Madariaga (any edition) [You may buy this book from any major bookseller. An online text version will be made available to you if you prefer not to buy this book, but I recommend you purchase a hard copy of the latest edition.]
ONLINE REQUIREMENTS
Regular online participation and some online assignments are required.
Viewing of the "Learning Path" online economics videos is required. You should get the access code to obtain access to these videos when you buy your textbook from the bookstore. If you obtain your textbook by other means, you will need to purchase the access code separately from the publisher.
TECHNOLOGY REQUIREMENTS
High speed internet access.
ON-CAMPUS REQUIREMENTS
This class will hold seven mandatory sessions on Saturday mornings between 9:30-11am at the Germantown Campus. See the schedule of classes for the specific dates and the classroom #.
