Welcome Back Faculty

Welcome Back DL Faculty - this promises to be a wonderful year!

Here are a few reminders:

  • The new course template is an option, not a requirement, for those who are interested in updating your course sites.

• Advanced Online Teaching – Quality Matters, a 6 week online course will start September 30th – PDS for registration

• The semester start-up checklist can be found at http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/distance/handbook/checklist.html

• The Information Page form is at: http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/distance/courseip/dlinfopageform.html

• Students have access to a Q & A website and the Virtual Advising and Counseling site from their course list for additional support

Here is a copy of an email that was sent to all DL students – please note the new orientation options now available to DL students.

Consider direct links from inside your courses as appropriate. The link to the Orientation Options page has been added to Campus Bookmarks on My WebCT.

Classes start September 3rd. Your online courses will be available anytime between now and 9/3.

Most students have two basic questions. How do I find my courses and what is online learning all about.

To find your courses, sign into My MC from http://montgomerycollege.edu and select the WebCT icon at the top of the page. This will open up your My WebCT page where your courses are listed. Don't worry if you click on your course and it says that your course isn't ready or you have been denied access. All that means is that your instructor is still working on your course.

If you do not find your course in WebCT, check the DL Course Schedule at http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/distance/fall08.html for additional information

MC has developed a variety of orientation options to help you get used to online learning and WebCT before the first day of the semester. Go to http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/distance/dlorientation.html and consider:

Option 2 - watching the recording of the Virtual Online Orientation
Option 3 - exploring the WebCT Demo/Online Orientation Course
Option 4 - taking the READI assessment - you will get instant results
Option 5 - watching the WebCT Student Tutorials

If you have questions, give the Office of Distance Learning a call 240-567-600 or email at dl@montgomerycollege.edu

Have a great semester!!!!
