Greetings, Winter Session 2008 WebCT Faculty.
WebCT course delivery sites for the Winter Session 2008 semester will be available to you on December 12.
DO NOT ENTER YOUR COURSE DELIVERY SITE UNTIL YOU HAVE READ
THIS MESSAGE CAREFULLY, INCLUDING THE ATTACHED INSTRUCTIONS.
When you are ready to make your site available to students, use the Copy Content function to copy material
from your development site (e.g., John Smith DS 107)
to your delivery site (e.g., DS-107-50017). (The instructions for copying content from one WebCT site to another are attached.)
Until you have copied content to your delivery site, students who attempt to access the site will receive a message that the site is not yet ready.
Once you have copied content into your delivery site, students will be able to enter the site. If you do not want students to access your site until the first day of the semester, you may:
1. Copy content and then deny students access, OR
2. Delay copying content until the first day of class.
Some faculty have found it is more convenient to have a separate development site for each type of semester. For example, you could have a “Joe Smith MG 101 Summer” and a “Joe Smith MG 101 15 Week.” By keeping each of those development sites up to date, you would be able to have appropriate versions of the same course for delivery in semesters of different lengths.
Alternatively, you may decide to copy content from a previous delivery site to the current delivery site.
If you would like assistance with either of these alternative systems, please contact one the technical support staff:
