Admission Information

 

Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) Degree in
Health Information Technology

 

Follow these three steps to become a student of the Health Information Technology Program

   Attend an Information Session

           ·   no advance reservation needed; sessions open to all interested individuals

   Submit a Health Sciences Admission Package to the Admissions Office

             □   Montgomery College application

             □   Health Sciences application to HIT Program

            □     College or High School transcript; or GED scores*

             □   Passing assessment scores, unless exempt

 

           NOTE:  Completion of all program admission requirements does not guarantee placement into the program.

   Attend a Program Orientation and Registration session for newly admitted students

 

*Foreign transcripts (College and High School) must be evaluated by an approved evaluation agency.  Pick up a sample list of authorized agencies from the Takoma Park Admissions Office.

Start of Classes:

Classes begin each fall semester.

All program lecture courses are offered in the evening, clinical application courses are scheduled during daytime hours.


NOTE: Beginning in the Fall of 2008, students applying for the health science programs must have completed their required core courses by the previous Fall.

Application Deadline:

Deadline for submitting Montgomery College and Health Sciences completed applications to the admissions office is March 1st for Fall semester start.  If the program is not filled by March 1st,  applications received after that date will be processed and considered for Fall semester start.

Admission requirements, including specific selection criteria, have been established by the Board of Trustees and are listed under Admissions, Health Sciences in the college catalog.
