Rotating from campus to campus, the retreats provide an opportunity for faculty, staff, administrators and students to assemble and learn from one another. The goal is for the members of the College community to communicate best practices, develop a sense of shared mission, and create new ideas to strengthen the culture of learning that has always existed at Montgomery College. Brainstorming sessions enable the participants to share their thoughts about producing the optimal learning environment for all members of our vast and diverse community. To date, participants have offered teaching techniques that really engage students, shared student success stories, and developed award-winning project ideas, some of which have resulted in Make It Happen!Innovation Grants. Indeed, the retreats have become celebrations of successful learning college strategies and pedagogical innovations. Our last retreat was Wednesday, November 21, 2007, at the Rockville Campus. The Learning College Retreats are sponsored by MCLearns: A partnership of Distance Learning, Workforce Development & Continuing Education, the Office of the Vice President for Academic Initiatives & Partnerships , Center for Teaching and Learning, Office of Information Technology, and the Center for Professional and Organizational Development.
