The Middle States Reaccreditation process at Montgomery College is complete! At its session on June 26, 2008, the Middle States Commission on Higher Education acted to "reaffirm accreditation and to commend the institution for the quality of the self-study process and report."

The process began with the design of a self-study based on the 14 standards articulated in the Middle States Commission on Higher Education's publication, Characteristics of Excellence. The 2008 Middle States Self-Study Report was written by five work groups made up of faculty, staff, students, and administrators with the input of many, many members of the College community. The report was submitted to the Commission in preparation for the Middle States Team Visit from March 2-5, 2008.

The Middle States Self-Study Steering Committee encourages all members of the Montgomery College community to read the Self-Study Report as well as the Visiting Team Report. Both reports critically assess our College, identify institutional strengths, cite areas in need of improvement, and articulate recommendations for self-renewal and self-improvement. You will note that many of these recommendations have already been addressed, while others will provide direction and guidance for future initiatives.
