The Refugee Center's ESOL program, English for the
American Workplace, is opened to refugees and asylees of all levels of
English, preliterate to advanced. It was founded by the Maryland State
Department of Education. It is located at Montgomery College's facility at 8561 Fenton Street just 3/4 mile north of the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus (map).
Specialized classes are available in computer, Certified Nursing Assistant,
Health Care, English, and more.
The Refugee Center's Citizenship Preparation program
is open to all legal permanent residents of Maryland. This course offers
orientation, classes, tutoring sessions and mock USCIS tests and interviews
to those who want to prepare for the USCIS naturalization examinations.
