REFUGEE CENTER
Mission:
The Montgomery County Refugee Training Program’s (MCRTP) mission is to provide refugees and asylees residing in Prince George’s and Montgomery counties culturally sensitive English language instruction and assessment in order to facilitate their successful integration and full participation in the community; to provide a supportive learning environment; and to promote the development of inter-cultural competence. MCRTP fulfills its mission through:
- running a full-time, multi-level English Program.
- running a Targeted Assistance Program
- maintaining strategic partnerships with resettlement organizations and employment managers.
- providing practical work experience for students through school-run businesses.
- hiring culturally and professionally competent faculty and staff.
- encouraging students to maintain cultural identity while simultaneously becoming integrated into American society.
The Montgomery County Refugee Training Center (RTC) provides the refugee and asylee community a free, quality education. There are two programs for refugees and asylees at the RTC: English for the American Workplace & the Targeted Assistance Program (TAP). Classes include: Intensive English Language, Certified Nursing Assistant, Computer and Receptionist Training, Hotel and Food Service Training, Customer Service Training, Pronunciation, and more.
School hours: Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
