Academic year - The period of time during the year when instructional programs are conducted, including regular semesters and summer session. Counselor - A professionally trained educator who offers help to students in the areas of personal concerns, career choice, and educational decisions. Drop and add - The procedure whereby a student may alter his or her program of studies by dropping a course and or adding a course to his or her schedule after the beginning of the semester. The student initiates this procedure through an International Student Coordinator. Faculty adviser - A member of the faculty who helps the student plan his or her academic program in a specified curriculum. Full-time student - A student enrolled for 12 or more credit (billing hours) per semester, six or more credit hours per summer session. Good academic standing - The status of a student who maintains a minimum grade point average of 2.0. Quality points - Semester hours of credit multiplied by the numerical equivalent of a letter grade (A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0). For example, English 101 is a three-credit-hour course (three semester hours of credit). A student who earned an A would receive 12 quality points for the course (3x4=12).
