Important Fall 2009 Application Deadline: January 23, 2009


ADMISSIONS PROCESS
A group of twenty-five outstanding high school graduates will be selected for each class of the Montgomery Scholars Program. In choosing Scholars, we look for applicants with a college prep GPA of 3.0 or higher and competitive SAT scores. We also consider intellectual interests, extracurricular activities, essays, recommendations and other indications of excellence.

Admission to the Montgomery Scholars program is competitive. All candidates applying for the Montgomery Scholars program must submit a special Montgomery Scholars Application for Admission, along with a twenty-five dollar application fee (one-time, non-refundable). In addition, the following documents must be submitted by January 23 of the admission year:

*Official high school transcript (required)

*Official college entrance exam scores: either the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Testing Program (ACT) scores (required)

*Essay submitted with application (required)

*Two (2) Teacher/Counselor recommendation forms (required)

*Official Advanced Placement scores, TOEFL scores, SAT II subject test scores (optional)

**Please note that the Montgomery Scholars application cannot be submitted electronically. Applicants are responsible for adhering to the established application deadlines.

SCHOLARSHIPS
Montgomery Scholars will launch their college studies at a fraction of the cost at most four-year schools. For Fall 2009, special merit-based, two-year, tuition scholarships (15 credits each semester at the county resident rate) will be available for selected Montgomery Scholars who are residents of Montgomery County. These Montgomery Scholars merit scholarships include the majority of costs involved with the Cambridge Experience (round trip airfare with the group, room & board and tuition).

 

APPLICATION CALENDAR

January 23
Complete admission and scholarship application materials must be submitted.

If applying for financial aid, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) should be completed. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for further information.

MARCH 31
Notification date for decisions on the Montgomery Scholars program applications

MAY 1
Reply date for accepted Montgomery Scholars applicants
