Dan Rankin (MCTV) Wins Emmy

Montgomery College Instructional Television (MCTV) Producer/Director Dan Rankin has received a National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences 2009 Emmy Award. Dan earned the nomination for his work on the "The Computer Gaming and Simulation Program at Montgomery College," a 30-minute program in the category of Informational/Instructional; Program/Special. All honors were presented as part of the 52nd EMMY Awards held June 5 at The Ritz-Carlton in Washington, DC.

Dan's talent and hard work showcase MCTV Channel 10 and MC's Computer Gaming Program alongside some of the region's most prominent national and local nominees. You can view his Emmy-winning show at

Dr. DeRionne P. Pollard Named President of Montgomery College

Dr. DeRionne P. Pollard has been named as the next president of Montgomery College. Dr. Pollard brings 15 years of community college teaching and leadership experience to Montgomery College. She will officially start as president on August 2, 2010.

The 2009 F. Scott Fitzgerald Literary Awards were recently held at Montgomery College and the 2009 Literary Award Honoree, Julia Alvarez sat down with Elizabeth M. Huergo, PhD., Montgomery College Professor of English for a 30 minute interview.
Alvarez talks to Huergo about what inspired her to become a writer, her life as a young immigrant in the US, the thought process she puts into her writing and many other interesting topics.
