Q. This is my first time at Montgomery College, can I register on the web?
A. Yes you may, but only if you pay with a credit card, however
some exceptions apply:
You should not register via the web if you:
a). Have a
tuition waiver. Examples: senior citizen, disability or National Guard.
b). Do not wish to enter a Social Security Number
(SSN) or do not have a SSN. You are not required to supply a Social Security
Number. If you do not wish to provide a SSN or do not have one, you will
need to apply in person, via mail, or by fax.
c). Are under 16 years of age. To register you must first get permission to take the class by contacting the Program Director associated with the class you wish to take.
d). Are applying for any of the following WD&CE classes:
English As A Second Language
ESOL
Youth Programs
SAT Preparation classes
Pathways to Success

Q. How do I pay for classes?
A. Montgomery College accepts Visa, Master Card, Discover,
Personal Check and Money Orders. *Cash payments may only be accepted
at a Cashier's office on the Germantown, Rockville, or Takoma Park/Silver
Spring campus.
Q. Can I register to save a seat and pay later?
A. No, payment must be made at the time of registration.
*There are some exceptions for certain Health
Sciences Institute programs, see the Health Sciences

Q. Is there a deadline for registering for a class?
A. You have to be registered by the time class starts or before the class is full. Registrations are on a first-come, first-served basis.
Q. Do I need a parking permit?
A. Yes. Students parking
a vehicle on any campus of the college while attending a program or class
lasting less than 30 days will receive a temporary parking permit with
their class confirmation materials. If you register via the web your printed
confirmation
or registration history will serve as a parking permit. This parking permit
will enable students to park in designated student parking areas on campus.
Students attending a program or class lasting longer than 30 days must
obtain a parking permit from the Safety and Security Office on campus.
The college
reserves the right to ticket and tow, at the owner's expense, any unregistered
vehicle parked in violation of the regulation.. If you have questions, please

Q. Can you get into a class that has already started?
A. Only with the approval of the Program Director.
Q. Do I have to use my Social Security Number (SSN)?
A. No, use your Montgomery College Id, it starts with M2..... I you do not have one yet, the College will assign you an identification number.
Q. How can I get my GED?
A. The GED program, formerly part of Montgomery County Public Schools, is now part of Montgomery College, visit the GED website http://www.montgomerycollege.edu/wdce/aelg/ged.htm for more information.
Q. Can I get a tuition waiver?
A. Only noncredit courses designated "tuition waiver applies" will
be available for tuition waiver. This statement appears in each applicable
course description. To be eligible you must be a resident of Maryland,
and at least 60 years old, or retired and disabled as defined by the Social
Security or the Railroad Retirement Act. If you are currently a member
of the Maryland National Guard and are enlisted for at least a 24 month
peroid, you are eligible for a 50% tuition waiver. You must submit proof
of such
from the adjutant general's office. Only tuition is waived; required fees

Q. After I register for a course, can I transfer from one CRN#
to another?
A. To transfer from one CRN# to another, you must submit the request in writing to any campus location before the beginning date of both courses.
Q. If a course is cancelled, will I get a refund?
A. A one-hundred percent refund of tuition and fees is granted if a course is administratively cancelled.
Q. If I withdraw from a class, will I get a refund?
A. If a student notifies the College of his/her withdrawal of registration, in writing, by the day prior to the official refund deadline date a 100 percent refund will be made. The refund deadline date is equivalent to 6% of the number of times a course meets. The refund date is listed on the student's registration confirmation. Students may notify the College of their withdrawal in either of two ways:
1. By completing a withdrawal form in person at any of the three campus Admissions, Records, and Registrations Offices, or
2. In writing to: Montgomery College, Workforce Development & Continuing
Education, 51 Mannakee Street, Rockville, Maryland 20850. .
Regardless of the option selected, all requests
must be received in writing by the day prior to the course refund deadline
date. Exceptions to this policy include: illness of student
or immediate family member (send physician's note); death of student
or immediate family member (send copy of death certificate); involuntary
entry into active duty in the armed forces(send copy of draft notice);
involuntary transfer/ change of work hours by the student's employer
(send letter from employer).For exceptions, appeal to: Montgomery College
Continuing Education, Refunds, 51 Mannakee Street, Rockville, Maryland
20850. Students must state their name, Montgomery College ID Number, course
title, CRN number, and reason for withdrawal.
A stop-payment on a check
does not constitute withdrawal from class.
