Register for College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) Exams

Earn Credit for What You Already Know

The College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) gives students the opportunity to receive college credit for what they already know by earning qualifying scores on any of the 34 exams that are offered. MC does not provide credit for all exams. See the list of CLEP exams and MC course equivalencies.

To register to take a CLEP exam at Montgomery College testing center(s), please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Purchase Your Exam Ticket

Go to the College Board My Account registration portalnew window. You will need to sign in to register for the CLEP exam. If you do not have an account yet, follow the directions to create an account. Follow the instructions to register for the CLEP exam. You will need to make your payment online directly to CLEP. Please print a copy of this exam registration ticket. You will need to bring your ticket on exam day.

Step 2: Register and Pay the Exam Fee

The fee for the exam at a Montgomery College testing center is $30 per exam. If you plan to take more than one exam, please complete a separate registration form for each exam. 

Click on the link below to register to pay for the CLEP exam fee. Once your registration is processed, you will receive an email with instructions on how to make payment in MyMC.

Once your payment is confirmed, you will receive a separate email including links to the Assessment and Testing Center calendar for each campus. You can select your preferred campus location and the calendar will indicate the days and times that are available to schedule your exam.

The appointment link you will receive will have up-to-date time and date availability. Please note that the Assessment and Testing Centers may close due to weather, staff meetings, College closures, etc.

Important Information

  • If you need testing accommodations, please contact Natalie Martinez (Disability Support Services) at 240-567-4118 or natalie.martinez@montgomerycollege.edu. Please allow up to 2 weeks to make arrangements.
  • Montgomery College CLEP Code is 5440 (for reporting scores to Montgomery College).
  • If you are planning on taking more than one CLEP exam, you must complete a separate MC Registration Form and have a CLEP registration exam ticket for each exam. You will receive separate email confirmations for each exam to select your exam date.
  • There are NO ELECTRONICS allowed in the testing room. There are lockers at the Assessment and Testing Centers where you will store your belongings.
