Montgomery College Recognized for Three Top Programs in the U.S. Including “Best Community College in Maryland”

Higher education resource guide releases the best institution programs for 2022, a trusted resource for online/on-campus program rankings and higher education planning, has included Montgomery College (MC) in its list of programs assessed for 2022. It recognized MC as #1 in the Best Community College in Maryland and Best Online Associate in Computer Science Programs categories. The research identifies higher education programs based on flexibility, faculty, course strength, cost, and reputation.

“I am delighted to see these rankings for the College and our academic programs. This is another testament to the high quality and rigorous academic programs at Montgomery College,” said Dr. Sanjay Rai, senior vice president for Academic Affairs at Montgomery College. “Computer science and cybersecurity have received the highest national ranking, which is notable as graduates of these programs serve our regional IT and cybersecurity companies and help to generate economic development in our area.” implemented a unique methodology that ranks each program on a scale from 0 to 100 across five categories. The scoring system compares each university according to program strength, student readiness, return on investment, cost, and student engagement. Researchers compared 704 programs from 2,900 universities and colleges across the United States. MC also came in ninth in the Best Online Community Colleges and Trade Schools category.

Montgomery College offers flexible distance learning that appeals to busy adults or hybrid models that include on-campus and online formats. Experts at assessed programs that help students enhance and develop advanced skills for a variety of in-demand positions.

“High quality, nationally-ranked programs reflect our highly credentialed faculty earning degrees from world-class institutions and possess sought-after and relevant industry experience,” Rai added.

Studies show that obtaining a degree increases income substantially, degree holders earning 84% more than those with only high school diplomas or those without a completed GED. The percentage difference in earnings continues to grow with higher learning degrees such as masters, doctoral or professional degrees, with the unemployment rate decreasing to as much as 1.1% for those with a doctorate.
