Montgomery College Marketing and Communications Named Nation's First "Team of the Year," Earns Multiple National Honors

Montgomery College’s Marketing and Communications (MarComm) team has been named the inaugural National Team of the Year by the National Council for Marketing & Public Relations (NCMPR new window), becoming the first team in the country to receive this new national honor recognizing excellence in higher education marketing and communications.
The Team of the Year Award, established in 2026, honors communications and marketing teams that deliver exceptional results through collaboration, innovation, and strong leadership while advancing their institution’s mission. Montgomery College was recognized at NCMPR’s annual national conference held earlier this month in Washington, D.C.
In addition to this top honor, the MarComm team earned two national Paragon Awards new window:

“Your team is to be commended for its collaborative excellence, innovative problem-solving, and meaningful contributions to advancing the community college story,” said Patrick Stone, president of NCMPR.
Montgomery College serves more than 46,000 students annually and reflects one of the most diverse student populations in the region. The MarComm team plays a central role in advancing the College’s mission through strategic storytelling, enrollment marketing, media relations, and leadership communications.
Over the past year, the team led a comprehensive transformation of the College’s marketing and communications strategy. This work included the development and launch of a new brand new window platform, implementation of a fully integrated marketing plan aligned with institutional priorities, and execution of the Proving What’s Possible new window multimedia campaign across digital, social, streaming, and out-of-home channels.
The team also expanded national and regional media visibility, strengthened analytics and reporting capabilities, and introduced new systems to improve workflow, coordination, and long-term sustainability.
“This recognition reflects the extraordinary work of a team that shows up every day with creativity, collaboration, and a deep commitment to our students and our community,” said Michelle Campbell, senior vice president for advancement and community engagement. “I could not be more proud of how our team continues to elevate Montgomery College’s story and impact.”
NCMPR’s Paragon Awards recognize outstanding achievement in design, strategy, and communications at community and technical colleges. This year’s competition drew 1,585 entries from 216 colleges nationwide and was judged by 67 industry professionals.
NCMPR supports the professional development of community college communicators and serves more than 1,600 members from nearly 600 colleges across the United States and Canada. It is one of the largest affiliates of the American Association of Community Colleges.
