Academic Master Plan Events

One of our division’s pride points from Year 1 of the Academic Master Plan is that over 140 people contributed to 28 initiatives, making extraordinary progress across the plan. Beyond the 140 team members were hundreds of participants in surveys, round tables, focus groups, and additional AMP engagements. We have been excited and inspired by the College community’s engagement in this form of service to our students and the future of our academic programs, and in Year 2, we want to do even more to connect and collaborate with you. To that end, we are partnering with MC’s Governance Councils to extend our reach and to provide even more opportunities to receive information and be part of the work we are embarking on together.

MC’s Governance Councils serve as a primary mechanism to engage the College community in the Academic Master Plan (AMP). In Academic Year 2026-2027, Academic Affairs seeks to increase awareness of strategic efforts across the division that advance progress toward the College’s Transformational Aspirations and fulfillment of the Strategic Plan. The following framework leverages the existing structure of Governance Councils to promote AMP activities, create forums across a variety of locations and modalities to hear from faculty and staff on AMP themes, and make routine communication channels to share and receive timely information that will inform progress along the way. The goal is to create a sense of connection, cohesion, and collaboration across these themes and throughout the College community on topics of import to students and across academic programs.

Communication Structure

  • Memos: On the first College Council meeting of each month, Academic Affairs will release a memo that announces the AMP theme of the month with reminders about the month’s meetings (College Council and MC Academic Showcases) with opportunities to engage with colleagues about the theme and related division activities.
  • Videos: Each of the AMP themes will have a brief video to be published online and shared through Governance Meetings on a monthly basis.
  • Meetings: College Council meets two times per month. At the first meeting of each month, Academic Affairs will share the video featuring the theme of the month and including an invitation to MC Academic Showcase events to be held the following week. At the second meeting of each month, Academic Affairs will provide an update about the prior week’s MC Academic Showcase and invite engagement with the topic as a brief featured presentation.
  • MC Academic Showcase Events
    • MC Academic Showcase (In-person): Theme leads for each month will facilitate in-person convenings with participation from strategy leads and featured faculty, staff, and student voices. The format of the showcases will include presented information and opportunities for engagement with presenters.

    • Academic Showcase Virtual Coffee Hour (Virtual): AMP leads will host Virtual Coffee Hours to engage in dialogue among participants. These informal events invite voices from the College community who can share perspectives on the topic of interest and contribute new ideas to shape the work underway.

    • Academic Showcase Late and Lively (Virtual): These virtual meetings are informal, synchronous gathering spaces scheduled after business hours to add flexibility for part-time faculty and staff who may need flexibility to participate beyond College business hours. Brief Academic Showcase content will be delivered, with special guests invited from theme and strategy leads, with conversation to follow.
