COVID-19

Ensuring the Health and Safety of Our Students, Employees, and Community

Montgomery College is offering both in-person and online classes and student services. View class schedules.

Effective January 1, 2023, masks are optional in all MC locations.

Vaccination is not required for students, employees, contractors, and visitors to be present on campus. However, students and employees participating in clinicals, externships, internships or other programs at off-campus locations are subject to the requirements of the off-campus site and may be required to provide proof of vaccination. We still encourage everyone to submit your vaccination proof but this is not required. 

MC students, employees, and visitors are expected to follow these guidelines:

  • If you are sick, stay at home. Employees should contact their immediate supervisor to make them aware and to get situational telework approval.
  • Continue to use frequent and proper handwashing and hand hygiene.
  • You should fill out the health assessment daily before you come to work or school.
  • Practice social distancing as much as possible.

Vaccines

Vaccination is not required for students, employees, contractors, and visitors to be present on campus. We still encourage everyone to submit your vaccination proof but this is not required.

Employee Vaccine Proof Submission: Employees submit vaccine proof using Workday.

Student Vaccine Proof Submission: Students submit vaccine proof using Medicat.

Students are not dropped from registered classes for not uploading their vaccination information.

You must be registered for class before you can submit your proof of vaccination. If you register for a class by 12 p.m., you will be able to access the portal the same day. If you register after 12 p.m., you will be able to access the portal after 6 a.m. the following day.

Students who were registered for a previous semester and already submitted their vaccination documentation should update their records with vaccine booster documentation, if this was not already submitted. Otherwise, no additional vaccination documentation is required from these students for the upcoming semester.

Medicat is reviewing documents as quickly as they can and are verifying documents on average within two weeks. If you have trouble logging in, contact IT Service Desk.

Testing and Quarantine Information

Who Needs to Get Tested for COVID-19

  • If you have had a known COVID-19 exposure: you should follow the quarantine guidelines and get a PCR test three to five days after exposure. 
  • If you have a positive Rapid Antigen Test result (self-administered home test):  you should follow the quarantine guidelines and get a PCR test as soon as possible.
  • Effective September 9, 2022: weekly screening testing of asymptomatic people without known exposures will no longer be required by the College for students and employees, and contractors regardless of vaccination status. Students, employees, and contractors are strongly encouraged to continue to self-monitor and take a rapid COVID-19 test or visit one of our on-campus testing sites.

When to Quarantine

If You Test Positive for COVID-19

If you receive positive COVID-19 test results, please contact Public Health (PublicHealth@montgomerycollege.edu) and follow the quarantine guidance listed below.

  • If you receive positive COVID-19 test results, there is a 5-day quarantine period, regardless of vaccination status. Submit a laboratory PCR test result or medical provider’s diagnosis to PublicHealth@montgomerycollege.edu.
  • Employees both on-site or remote must communicate with their supervisor to coordinate schedules and leave use of Time Off. Note that Covid-19 Testing Time Off is no longer available now that testing is not required.

If You Are Exposed to Someone with COVID-19

If you have been exposed to someone with COVID, you do not need to quarantine as long as you remain asymptomatic, regardless of your vaccination status, or unless otherwise directed by your medical provider. If you develop symptoms at any time, quarantine and take a PCR or home test. If you receive a positive test result, email the result to PublicHealth@montgomerycollege.edu

Starting in March 2020, the College has monitored and reported any cases of COVID-19 on our campuses and other MC locations. Only those students and employees who have been on-campus for instruction or work are included in the COVID-19 case reporting.  Positive cases constitute a confirmed positive PCR test result.

Montgomery College COVID-19 Statement of Responsibilities

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Montgomery College has prioritized the health and safety of its students and employees above all else. The College continues to follow all applicable federal, state and county guidelines and has taken steps to implement substantial precautions, including, but not limited to, increased cleaning, use of facial coverings, use of daily COVID-19 self-assessment, contract tracing and isolating/quarantining when required, in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. However, maintaining a safe campus is a shared responsibility.  By entering onto any of the College’s campuses or leased spaces, students agree to abide by all applicable College safety guidelines and protocols related to COVID-19. Failure to comply with these safety measures may result in the denial of access to the College’s campuses or leased spaces, denial of services, and/or the denial of participation in any College events, programs or activities, including classroom participation, and may result in a referral to a campus dean of student development for potential disciplinary action under the Student Code of Conduct.

Despite the safety measures that have been implemented, it is impossible for the College to fully mitigate the risk of becoming exposed to or infected by COVID-19 or any other communicable diseases, and students must assess and accept the risks of illness or injury for themselves. Students understand and agree that by attending in-person classes, engaging in any College services or activities, or otherwise entering onto the College’s campuses or leased spaces, they assume all risks attendant thereto, including the risk of contracting COVID-19 or any other communicable diseases.

As the state of medical knowledge related to COVID-19 continues to evolve, guidelines and protocols to reduce the spread of COVID-19 may change.  As such, students are responsible for continuing to monitor their College email for any updates, as well as this page and the HRSTM COVID-19 page
