CREATE Teacher Cohort Program

CREATE (Culturally Responsive Educators Aspiring for Teaching Excellence) is a cohort program open to students pursuing any associate of arts in teaching (AAT) degree at Montgomery College.

The program is offered on the Germantown, Rockville, and Takoma Park/Silver Spring campuses. Each spring, students apply to the program, and in fall, a new cohort begins. 

CREATE offers strong support through:

  • structured scheduling
  • content-specific study sessions
  • close interaction with faculty and mentors
  • ongoing, one-on-one advising
  • leadership opportunities
  • social activities

CREATE students have much higher rates of on-time graduation and successful transfer to area schools. Participants receive assistance in researching and applying to transfer schools to complete their four-year certification program.
