Testimony of a Holocaust Survivor from Holland, presented by the Paul Peck Humanities Institute

Robert F. Teitel, an orphaned child Holocaust survivor born in Amsterdam, Holland, will narrate the history of his extended family in relation to major developments of the 20th Century: “ massive” demographic migrations, World War I, the rise of Nazism, World War II, the Holocaust, and post-war dislocations.

His presentation traces the movement of different branches of the family from Eastern to Western Europe, to the Middle East, and to the United States. With great relevance to contemporary issues, Mr. Teitel speaks to the deadly consequences of allowing extremist ideologies, such as anti-Semitism, to thrive and to the challenges faced by refugees in striving to escape war-ravaged regions.
