The Montgomery College–Montgomery County Public Schools (MC-MCPS) Cyber Forensics Competition is held annually to provide an opportunity for high school students to compete and enhance their cybersecurity and forensic analysis skills.

We’re excited to announce the Ninth Annual High MC-MCPS In-Person Cyber Forensics Competition. Our competition is open to students who attend any Montgomery County Public high school.

We can’t wait to see you on campus!

Registration Instructions

Register through March 10, 2026.

To comply with the Montgomery College policy of protection of minors on the College campus, teams must be accompanied by a chaperon/coach or authorized by school volunteer over 18 years old. This person must be an official employee of your school or authorized volunteer. The name can be provided at the registration or later. Registration should be done by the schools’ teacher/coach/chaperon.

Check with your school’s faculty and administration on how to sign up today.

Students will compete to:

  • Solve a simulated case, defend their network, and discover their future.
  • Step into the shoes of a digital investigator in this NCIS-style cyber forensics challenge.
  • Analyze digital clues, uncover evidence, and work together to solve a simulated cybercrime.
  • Experience a full day of collaboration, investigation, and discovery designed to build your skills and spark your cybersecurity future.

Student teams are scored for their speed, accuracy, and thoroughness of their case write up by a panel of judges made up of cybersecurity students, Montgomery College faculty and staff, and other industry professionals.
