Faculty Fellowship

The Global Classrooms Faculty Fellowship has given faculty members the opportunity to develop their knowledge and experience of the innovative teaching method of Collaborative On-line International Learning (COIL), which connects students and faculty from geographically distant locations and diverse lingua-cultural backgrounds in order to enhance cultural awareness and knowledge.

We would like to invite faculty who have an interest and/or experience in internationalizing their courses to apply to the Spring 2020-Fall 2020 Global Classrooms cohort. The Humanities Division and ELITE are funding this fellowship. The purpose of the Fellowship is to prepare interested and globally aware MC faculty to interact virtually with faculty from our partner schools in El Salvador, Ethiopia, and other international partner institutions with the eventual goal of creating curriculum aimed at increasing global self-awareness and perspective taking in both students and faculty.

Fellows commit to two semesters of participation for which they will receive one ESH per academic semester. Sessions are once a month on a Friday from 2-4 p.m.

For details on meeting dates, outcomes, and to obtain a copy of the application form, please see the attachments. You may also contact the fellowship coordinators, Professor Shelley Jones (shelley.jones@montgomerycollege.edu) and Professor Carla Naranjo (carla.naranjo@montgomerycollege.edu) with any questions. The deadline for submissions is Friday, October 23, 2020.

Faculty Fellowship

Since the spring of 2016, several of your colleagues from across the College have participated in the  Global Classrooms (GC) Faculty Fellowship in either the spring or fall semester.

The spring semester focuses on establishing a relationship with a faculty member from a partner institution via email, text, and virtual conversations. Fellows will continue building that relationship and planning for their Global Classroom project during the summer months.

The fall semester focuses on executing a Global Classrooms project with students from both institutions. Participants in the GC Fellowship will meet with lead trainers and fellow faculty members Shelley Jones and Carla Naranjo on the following Fridays throughout the semester from 2-4 p.m. Sessions will be held via ZOOM until further notice.
