Shulmans Transformative Gift

Longtime Montgomery College champions Bobbi and Larry Shulman made a $200,000 investment to expand opportunity, foster belonging, and support high-achieving students. In addition, Rockville-based law firm Shulman Rogers made an additional gift of $50,000 in Larry’s honor. Their gifts strengthen cultural learning and academic excellence—opening doors for students today and for generations to come.

Bobbi Shulman—who served on both the College’s Board of Trustees and its Foundation Board of Directors—and her husband, Larry Shulman, founding partner of Shulman Rogers, continue their legacy of leadership and service through this meaningful gift. Their philanthropy reflects a deep belief in education as a catalyst for opportunity and community impact.

The Shulmans made their gift through a donor-advised fund at the Greater Washington Community Foundation. It will have multiple positive impacts for Montgomery College Students. The gift launched the Jewish Experience Fund to strengthen cultural understanding, foster belonging, and offer students immersive learning opportunities focused cultural competency training and antibias education, support for Jewish American Heritage Month, and interfaith and inclusive programming. Their $150,000 contribution to this priority, includes a $100,000 endowed fund that sustains long-term programming and a $50,000 current-use fund that supports immediate student experiences. The fund advances the College’s commitment to inclusive spaces where every student feels welcome, supported, and connected.

The Shulmans also invested $100,000 in the Presidential Scholars Program, matched by Shulman Rogers, building new momentum for a fund that supports first-generation college men who have been historically and disproportionately resources in higher education. These philanthropic investments strengthen the community today—and create brighter futures for generations to come.
