Alumni Engagement and Events
The Alumni Association organizes and hosts numerous engagement activities and events throughout the year that raise money for student scholarships and help former students stay connected.

Each May, the Alumni Association hosts its annual Dogfishing for MC Scholarships fundraiser at the Dogfish Head Alehouse in Gaithersburg, MD. The event raises thousands of dollars for student scholarships through a 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and other engagement activities. The 12th annual Dogfishing for MC Scholarships fundraiser on May 6, 2025 drew more than 400 attendees and raised over $9,500.

The Alumni Association hosted a reunion for the Montgomery College Fightin’ Knights football program on December 13, 2024. Over 150 former players, coaches, and supporters gathered at the Theatre Arts building on the Rockville campus to celebrate 55 years of Montgomery College football—more than five decades of passion, perseverance, and championship triumphs. The special guest was Coach Phil Martin, who brought the team to two NJCAA national championships during his 21 years of coaching the Fightin' Knights from 1982-2002. Watch the recap herenew window.

The Alumni Association organized multiple legislative advocacy opportunities in 2025. Opportunities included the 45th annual Montgomery County Commission for Women Women’s Legislative Briefing, the Montgomery County Council Operating Budget Hearing, and the Montgomery County Education Budget Forum. Alumni Board members and volunteers advocated for the funding priorities of Montgomery College while raising awareness about the Alumni Association and the services it provides.

One of the most critical services that the Alumni Association provides is mentoring. Mentors provide guidance and support to students and alumni in achieving their academic and professional aspirations. The Alumni Association recruits mentors to be matched with mentees through Future Linknew window, which is an official mentoring partner of Montgomery College. Stay tuned for a revamped alumni mentoring program that will be launched in Fall 2025.

Alumni volunteers attend and support student-led activities and events throughout the year. Examples include Commencement, spring graduate fairs, SGA meetings, student career panels, the Raptor Tank Business Pitch Competition, Mobile Food Markets, and more. It’s critical to raise students’ awareness of the programs and services that the Alumni Association provides while they’re at MC so that they become motivated to join the Alumni Association and give back once they graduate.
