Montgomery College Celebrates Computer Science Education Week, Highlighting State-of-the-Art Programs and Workforce Partnerships

In recognition of national Computer Science Education Week (Dec. 8–14), Montgomery College is highlighting its expanding computer science and information technology programs—along with workforce opportunities through the Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology at Montgomery College (PIC MC)—that prepare students for high-demand careers in the region’s growing tech sector.

Montgomery College’s Computer Science and Technologies new window programs offer associate degrees and certificates designed for students entering the workforce immediately or planning to transfer to four-year institutions. The curriculum continually evolves to meet industry needs, with coursework in programming, networking, gaming and simulation, and information systems.

Students learn in state-of-the-art facilities, including the College’s advanced Cybersecurity Lab new window, equipped with virtual servers, virtual desktops, isolated networks, and wireless and forensic technologies. The lab supports academic competitions, research, and hands-on training in cybersecurity—one of the region’s fastest-growing fields.

Montgomery College offers:

  • Associate of Arts degrees in Computer Science and Information Systems
  • Certificates in Computer Programming and Java Development
  • Noncredit Workforce Development and Continuing Education courses for upskilling, career changers, and adult learners

PIC MC: A Hub for Innovation, Research, and Workforce Talent

Central to Montgomery College’s role in technology education is PIC MC new window, the College’s integrated academic, business, and research campus located in Germantown. Serving nearly 50,000 students across more than 140 programs, PIC MC creates powerful connections between students, faculty, and industry.

PIC MC is home to:

  • Holy Cross Germantown Hospital, making MC the only community college in the country with a full-scale hospital on campus
  • Hughes Network Systems’ state-of-the-art satellite manufacturing facility, offering students exposure to cutting-edge satellite engineering and production
  • Proximity to the I-270 technology corridor, more than 350 bioscience companies, and major federal institutions

These partnerships give students access to hands-on training, internships, research experiences, and job pathways in fields ranging from cybersecurity to biotechnology and engineering.

A Call to Future Students, Families, and Employers

Montgomery College invites prospective students and families to explore its programs, meet faculty, and learn how MC can support their academic and career goals. Employers and community partners are also encouraged to connect with PIC MC to explore research collaborations, internships, and workforce development opportunities. Spring 2026 enrollment is now open.
