MHEC serves as Maryland’s coordinating and regulatory board for postsecondary education, overseeing key areas including financial aid, academic program approval, and statewide higher education policy. Of its 12 commissioner seats, one is reserved for a student.

Endrias, who is preparing to transfer into a program combining STEM and public policy, brings a strong record of leadership and advocacy. At Montgomery College, she has championed the College’s Hunger-Free Campus Grant, served on the Pinkney Innovation Complex for Science and Technology board, held leadership roles in Phi Theta Kappa, and completed a technology policy fellowship supporting research for the North Carolina state government.

Her appointment is also notable for representation. Based on publicly available information, this is believed to be the first time a Montgomery College student has held the MHEC student commissioner seat.

“I am honored to represent students across Maryland in this role,” said Endrias. “Montgomery College is the state’s largest and most diverse community college, and bringing that perspective to MHEC is important. As a transfer student, I’m especially focused on ensuring policies support access, affordability, and clear pathways between institutions. I look forward to contributing to efforts that expand opportunity and strengthen support systems so every Maryland student has the chance to succeed.”

Her achievement reflects the leadership, preparation, and impact that define Montgomery College students—and the opportunities ahead of them.
