Editorial Style Guide

The Editorial Style Guide (PDF, Get Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader.-Link opens in new window.) provides MC’s preferred standards for official correspondence, reports, and messages to the community. Created by the Office of Communications and based on the Chicago Manual of Style, an “industry standard” published by University of Chicago Press since 1906, this guide should be adopted by all College staff and faculty who routinely write, edit, proofread, review, and otherwise produce written correspondence.

Our Editorial Style Guide should be consulted first before other references. Your next choice for reference should be Merriam-Webster’s Dictionary and The Chicago Manual of Style.
