Preparedness

Montgomery College is proud to provide students, staff, and faculty with bleeding control classes and training in the use of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Both courses will be presented in an online familiarization format, as well as a hands-on experience.

Visit the Automated External Defibrillator presentation to view the AED familiarization course. This class will offer students the knowledge and skills necessary to “help those experiencing sudden cardiac arrest by using a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use, medical device that can analyze the heart's rhythm and, if necessary, deliver an electrical shock, or defibrillation, to help the heart re-establish an effective rhythm.” This will be accomplished via a PowerPoint presentation that will be accessible through this website.

In the near future, we will provide hands-on Bleeding Control and hands-on AED classes. Participants will be provided with the knowledge, along with practical skills necessary to intervene to save a life. Check this website frequently to look for dates and times.

Other classes such as fire extinguisher training, fire prevention, workplace safety, and emergency preparedness training will also be provided on an as-needed basis. Taking part in these and other emergency preparedness classes are just a few examples of preparing yourself for emergencies. Also, participating in drills, planning, equipping, and being ready for any eventuality, prepare you for when disaster strikes.
