Dr. Tiffany Ray-Patterson

Dr. Ray-Patterson is a dynamic leader who is dedicated to fostering rich academic environments, student success, and learner engagement. Her leadership and vision will be instrumental in advancing our mission and supporting the College’s Transformational Aspirations of access, completion, and post-completion success. Her deep commitment to student success and equity is evident throughout her work.

Most recently, Dr. Ray-Patterson served as Vice President of Student Services and Equity Advancement/Chief Diversity Officer at Germanna Community College in Fredericksburg, Virginia for seven years. There, she spearheaded initiatives like the Germanna Cares program, College Everywhere, and the Germanna-Mason ADVANCE partnership, significantly enhancing student support and equity. She also secured substantial grants for underrepresented and low-income students and developed diversity microlearning modules and an Equity-Centered Syllabus Review Tool.

Before Germanna, she held various student services roles, including enrollment services, registrar, enrollment management, and Title IX coordinator, over six years at Virginia Peninsula Community College.

Dr. Ray-Patterson earned her Ph.D. in Education, Higher Education from Old Dominion University, where her dissertation focused on factors influencing STEM major selection by African American females. She also holds an MBA and a B.S. in Business Administration from Old Dominion University.
