Student Work

The Visual Arts Program on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring Campus has served a student body that is increasingly diverse and cosmopolitan, representing over 190 countries. Many languages are spoken on campus and international clubs provide many opportunities to experience other cultures and ideas. This cultural pluralism enhances educational opportunities as faculty members emphasize creative personal expression that draws from the aesthetics of many cultures, not strictly the western idea of beauty. Students from all age groups participate in the art classes, taking classes in pursuit of a degree, certificate, or for personal enrichment.
