Amanda Darr

Ms. Amanda Darr brings a strong background in counseling, advising, and shared governance, along with a demonstrated commitment to student success and cross-divisional collaboration. Ms. Darr has served Montgomery College for the past seven years as a full-time Counseling faculty member at the Germantown Campus and previously worked as a counselor and College Success Skills instructor at Northern Virginia Community College.

In addition to her transfer counseling expertise, Ms. Darr has held progressive leadership roles including Chair and Vice Chair of Germantown Campus Council, Chair and Vice Chair of Faculty Council, and currently serves as Vice Chair of College Council. She also served for five years on both the Germantown and College-wide Behavioral Intervention Teams, leading communications and partnering with OIRE to assess and strengthen BIT processes.

As Acting Associate Dean, Ms. Darr will have direct responsibility for chairing the Germantown Campus Behavioral Intervention Team and maintaining community standards through the Student Code of Conduct leading with communication, collaboration, empathy, and fairness. Ms. Darr has provided peer mentoring, onboarding, and training for new counselors. She holds a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Boston College and a graduate certificate from the University of Maryland in working with survivors of survivors of violence, torture, and trauma.
