Each summer, the Germantown Humanities Department hosts Chautauqua, a program in which scholars assume the costume and character of historical figures.

The Humanities Department on the Germantown Campus comprises five disciplines: History, Philosophy, Political Science, World Languages, and Women’s and Gender Studies.

The Department offers courses that fulfill both the humanities and behavioral and social sciences distribution courses required for an Associates Degree.  In addition, several courses fulfill the General Education global and cultural perspectives requirement.  Members of the Humanities Department offer honors courses and learning communities, as well as courses taught in conjunction with Montgomery College’s  Renaissance Scholars Program.
