General Studies Program at Montgomery College

Our General Studies Program provides an opportunity for you to focus your studies in one of three discipline cores, a combination of those areas, or a chance to start your journey while exploring your options.

There is also a fully online degree option and a z-degree option (no textbook purchases required). 

Students enrolled in General Studies at Montgomery College will need to complete at least 15 credits from courses offered within a chosen core discipline, including a minimum of 3 credits at the 200 level.

Complete this degree or certificate on your schedule, from anywhere with an internet connection, by taking all your classes online. Find out more about online learning.
Our Integrated Studies Core allows students to pursue a degree combining two of the above discipline cores.
