Description

This course covers the practical concepts and skills needed for developing real-world Java applications. You will learn how to develop Windows-based and GUI-based Java applications using features such as event listeners, layout managers, list boxes, combo boxes, radio buttons, check boxes, menus, pop-up menus, and images. Both AWT and Swing packages will be covered and used in developing web applications and stand-alone applications. This course also introduces the applet life cycle, exception handling, arrays, vectors, string classes, and JAR files. 

Prerequisites

 Java—Level I or equivalent experience.

Objectives

  • Describe the differences between class objects and array objects.
  • Contrast arrays and vectors.
  • Work with the Java archive files (JAR).
  • Use exception handling features to capture run-time errors.
  • Design and develop Windows and GUI based applications.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the event driven programming concept.
  • Describe the life cycle of an applet.
  • Create and use image objects.
  • Develop Java applications using features, including arrays, vectors, strong classes, interfaces, event listeners, event handlers, and AWT and Swing components.
