Description
This course covers the practical concepts and skills needed for developing real-world Java applications. You will learn how to develop Windows-based and GUI-based Java applications using features such as event listeners, layout managers, list boxes, combo boxes, radio buttons, check boxes, menus, pop-up menus, and images. Both AWT and Swing packages will be covered and used in developing web applications and stand-alone applications. This course also introduces the applet life cycle, exception handling, arrays, vectors, string classes, and JAR files.
Prerequisites
Java—Level I or equivalent experience.
Objectives
- Describe the differences between class objects and array objects.
- Contrast arrays and vectors.
- Work with the Java archive files (JAR).
- Use exception handling features to capture run-time errors.
- Design and develop Windows and GUI based applications.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the event driven programming concept.
- Describe the life cycle of an applet.
- Create and use image objects.
- Develop Java applications using features, including arrays, vectors, strong classes, interfaces, event listeners, event handlers, and AWT and Swing components.
