Montgomery College is an Authorized Training Provider (ATP) by the Project Management Institute (PMI) to provide industry leading preparation towards the certification exams. The Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® certification is designed for individuals looking to get into project management, entry level project managers or those with less than 3 years’  project team experience and project management.

A CAPM® Certification can help you move forward in a career in project management and get you on the path towards potentially obtaining the Project Management Professional (PMP)® Certification.

CAPM® Certification Exam Eligibility Requirements

To obtain a CAPM® Certification you must meet the requirements of the Project Management Institute (PMI), which includes a general educational requirement and Project Management education requirement. Based on these three factors (a table is below), you can determine whether or not you qualify for the PMP®. If you are not eligible, you may look to prepare for the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)® Certification Exam

To apply for the CAPM®through the Project Management Institute,  you need to meet the following prerequisites:

General Education

Secondary Degree (high school diploma, associate’s degree or the global equivalent)

Project Management Education

23 hours of project management education by the time you sit for the exam 

CAPM® Preparation Schedule, Spring 2025:

Structured Remote class are online courses that will meet at a designated meeting date and time, live with your instructor. 

Students must complete the following required prerequisites in order to register for and complete the CAPM® Exam Preparation course:

  1. PM101: Methodology and Overview (PMC036)
  2. PM102: Practical Application of Predictive Project Management (PMC037)
  3. PM103: Practical Application of Agile Project Management (PMC038)

PMC046  Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Exam Prep

  • Meeting Days/Times: Mondays and Wednesdays,  6:30 p.m.- 9:30 p.m. 
  • Location: Structured Remote (SR)
  • Investment:
    • $354 + $305 = $659
    • Non-Maryland Residents add $300
    • (course materials included)
100% attendance to complete the course. 
Montgomery College Project Management Certificate

We have updated our program to now include the Montgomery College Project Management Certificate. This program is designed for individuals who are not seeking to get certified or does not possess the requirement to qualify and sit for the PMP certification. There are four courses for one to earn the certificate.

Registration Information

Our noncredit program is open enrollment and available to all students on a first come, first serve basis. Students looking to register online must login to their MyMC Student Account to register for the classes in the program. More registration details are below:

  • 150 multiple choice questions
  • Must complete the exam in 3 hours

For PMI Members: US$ 225.00
For PMI non-members: US$ 300.00

Recertification: To maintain the CAPM®, you must retake the exam every five (5) years.
