Automotive Technology

Prepare for or advance your career in the automotive service and repair industry with a degree or certificate in automotive technology. Students can earn an associate of applied science degree or certificates of completion in specialty areas.

Automotive technology is a hands-on, practical program with many donated motor vehicles for students to work on as they learn. The main, general purpose Automotive Lab, located on the Rockville Campus in the Homer S. Gudelsky Institute for Technical Education, contains multiple service bays and a wide variety of equipment. This large automotive lab is supplemented by smaller classrooms and labs.

Employment opportunities exist in new vehicle dealerships, independent automobile repair facilities, vehicle fleet maintenance, and government agencies, as well as performance, upfitter and after-market installer shops. Automotive coursework also prepares students for the industry recognized National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) technician certification exams.
