The Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Montgomery College will prepare you for a career in health care as a licensed physical therapist assistant (PTA). PTAs provide limited patient care services under the direction and supervision of a licensed physical therapist. PTAs practice in health care settings such as hospitals, clinics, and other settings.
MC's PTA Program includes classes, patient care skills laboratories, and full time clinical internships. Upon successful graduation, you will be qualified to take a licensure board exam.
This program is offered only on the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus in five consecutive semesters, though many students will need additional time to complete admissions requirements and prerequisites. We encourage all prospective students to attend an information session.

Associate of Applied Science
The Physical Therapist Assistant Program at Montgomery College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The program was initially accredited in 1996 and continues to be designated as a statewide program by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC). The last accreditation site visit occurred in November, 2020 and the program is fully accredited until June 30, 2031.
