Achieving the Promise Academy
Achieve Your Academic Goals
No matter where you are on your academic journey, the Achieving the Promise Academy (ATPA) supports your success while you are at MC. As a collegewide program, ATPA offers embedded classroom support and one-on-one academic coaching to students enrolled at any campus or taking classes remotely.
In and out of the classroom, ATPA coaches can help you build on your strengths and target areas for improvement so that you can excel academically. ATPA services have also been shown to help students pass their classes, improve their grades, save money, and stay on track to graduate on time. ATPA services are free and open to any registered Montgomery College students taking one or more courses.

Register for a Class with an Embedded Coach
ATPA embedded support is offered in specific sections of courses that have been historically harder for students to pass. By enrolling in a course with ATPA embedded support, students receive targeted coaching for that course’s content and expectations. To enroll in these sections, use the advanced filter option in the schedule of classes when registering for courses.

What to Expect
Embedded coaches will support you for a semester at a time, in classes that have been historically harder for students to pass. Embedded coaches offer course-specific embedded coaching sessions where you can focus on the specific skills and knowledge you need to succeed in that particular course. You can also attend ATPA's student success workshops that help you build the skills, habits, and attitudes shown to help students excel in and out of the classroom. If you want to continue working with ATPA after the semester ends, you can also request a one-on-one coach.
Students who request a one-on-one coach will join a highly-supportive program that helps students build on their strengths, target areas for growth, and access the resources they need to succeed. Students meet regularly with their one-on-one coach as long as they are active in the program or until graduation/transfer. Your coach will help you develop and stick to a personalized ATPA Academic Success Plan each semester and learn about other MC resources and activities designed to increase your abilty to excel academically, graduate from Montgomery College, and start your career or transfer to a four-year university.

“Ms. Young was great throughout the whole semester! Huge help!”
“My several years of teaching experience is helping me to be a better coach and my coaching experience helps me to become a better teacher. My care for the students I teach Biology, has increased due to the coaching experience. ATPA is a life changing experience for the students and me."
"Watching students increase their knowledge and confidence in courses and their interactions with faculty has been a rewarding experience.
