2018 MC Scholarship Recipients Say Thank You
Every day is a good day to invest in the future of our students and our community!
The Montgomery College Foundation provided over $2.5 million in scholarships and a
few hundred more than the previous year plus over $41,000 in student emergency assistance
during the 2018–2019 academic year, thanks to generous individual, corporate, and
foundation donors. These figures represent the skyrocketing need for student support.
Regretfully, the foundation had to turn down hundreds of additional qualified scholarship
applicants due to limited funds. Support our mission by making a life-changing investment
in our students. Click here to give online.
Achieving Collegiate Excellence and Success (ACES)
The Herson family is among 15 generous supporters who accepted a challenge by philanthropists
Cliff and Debbie White that will provide 40 ACES students with the scholarships and
wrap-around supports they need to pursue their associate’s degree at MC and their
bachelor’s degree at the Universities at Shady Grove.
Over 500 donors, students, faculty and staff gathered on April 5 for the annual Scholarship
Recognition Luncheon celebrating philanthropy and the access it provides to immeasurable
educational opportunities. This year’s speaker was Donald D. Dawn, president of the Gordon
and Marilyn Macklin Foundation.
At the 2019 Foundation Scholarship Luncheon, Luis Rosales ’16, a senior at Georgetown
University, spoke about his family’s journey from El Salvador and the profoundly difficult
obstacles they encountered once here.
