Workforce Development and Continuing Education Montgomery College Foundation Career Path Scholarship Opportunity. 

This scholarship opportunity  allows students to select one career path (course or course sequence) from job-oriented programs offered in a term. Not all courses are offered every term and some career paths may have coursework that takes place in more than one term.  Students must meet the course prerequisites,  eligibility requirements and  complete the scholarship application form to be considered. Funding is very limited and not guaranteed

 

Eligibility (Award Requirements) for WDCE / Montgomery College Foundation Scholarship

  1. Select a career path /course(s).

    2. Allow at least two weeks prior to start date of class to apply for scholarship funds.

  2. Student Financial Eligibility Requirements
    1. Students who have already filled out the FAFSA will be asked to list the submit date. No further information is necessary.
    2. WDCE students do not need to fill out the FAFSA form. Instead they will be asked to supply / upload electronically ONE  from a list of these possible documents. Have them ready to upload before you start the application.
      1. Most recent (2023) tax return (page with income reported to the IRS) document.  If you are married, you must provide your spouses documents as well.  If you are under the age of 24 and are residing with your parent/s, you must provide parental information.
      2. Social Services document
      3. Unemployment income document
      4. W-2 from most recent tax year document
      5. Pay stub document for ALL jobs.
    3. Have no outstanding balance due to Montgomery College
    4. Be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Limited assistance is available for non-citizens.
    5. Register with the intent to complete all coursework and pass qualifying exams
  3. Application Process
    1. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Incomplete applications are not considered.

  4. Obligations
    1. Recipients are responsible for paying any tuition or fee balance not covered by the scholarship award and for notifying Montgomery College of any changes in address or contact information. Recipients are responsible for adhering to Montgomery College policy and procedures. 
  5. Dropped Course or Non-Attendance of Classes
    1. Any scholarship awardee who is unable to complete the program course as registered, MUST notify the WDCE MC Foundation Scholarship Team immediately at Scholarships@montgomerycollege.edu.
    2. Failure to do so may result in  issues with refunds and the student being responsible for paying for a course.
    3.  Any awardee found in non-attendance of their course will be dismissed from the program and funds forfeited.  
  6. Revisions
    1. Montgomery College Workforce Development and Continuing Education reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this grant program and to make changes at any time including termination of the program.  Students are responsible for checking the website for updates.

Please note that Scholarship application should be submitted at least two weeks or more prior to the start date of your course(s).  Also you should be aware that some classes have limited seating and prerequisites or mandatory orientation sessions / skills testing or other qualifications that must be met prior to being eligible to enroll in certain classes. 

Seats are limited in many courses, students can register and pay ahead and be reimbursed IF awarded.  Reimbursement will be processed once scholarship funds are applied to the student account 2 weeks after the start of latest starting class. Students who have registered for the course(s) and paid AND DO NOT receive funding will be responsible for the full cost of any course(s). Funds are not guaranteed to students applying. 

Students MUST:  

  1. Meet Financial Eligibility requirements.
    1. Students who have already filled out the FAFSA will be asked to list the submit date. No further information is necessary.
    2. Students who have NOT filled out the FAFSA will be asked to supply / upload electronically ONE of the following, after making sure that your social security number is redacted (removed) from any document. Submitting more than one document may be beneficial in making the determination of eligibility. The document(s) should be no more than six months old. Have the document(s) ready for uploading prior to starting the application
      1. Most recent (2023) tax return (page with income reported to the IRS) document
        1. If you are married, you must provide your spouses documents as well.
        2.  If you are under the age of 24 and are residing with your parent/s, you must provide parental information.

Application Process: 

Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Funding is limited.  Please do not submit more than one application.  This action will cause processing delays and may jeopardize your ability to receive a scholarship. 

Incomplete application packets will not be considered.   All information received is considered confidential and is reviewed only by  WDCE and the MC Foundation.

Awards are made to cover specific course(s) tuition + fees = total.  *Non Maryland Residents (NMR) add additional fee which is  NOT covered by the scholarship. For example: ITI Networking Academy, ITI294,  $500 tuition + $599 fee = $1,099.  * Non-Maryland Residents (NMR) add $650  which is NOT covered by scholarship. Students must provide all required documentation, forms, and information to be awarded funds. Students who are awarded and do not complete the course(s) due to attendance, drops, or other issues will forfeit the funds.

  • If during the application process, multiple drafts are created, please delete any drafts you do not intend to submit for final review.
  • Contact Scholarships@montgomerycollege.edu for assistance if you have any difficulty deleting drafts from your portal or if you need to complete a draft you already started and are unable to access it.

Application

To apply for the WDCE MC Foundation Scholarship complete the following online application. 

First-time users: Create a New Account (on the Log In page) to access the application form. Remember to SAVE YOUR SIGN IN INFORMATION where you can retrieve it when you need it.

If approved for the scholarship, students will receive a communication from the scholarship office including the award letter and a link to the WDCE Registration form (PDF, Get Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader - Link opens in new window) . Students are responsible for submitting the award letter and the completed registration form to any WDCE Customer Service locationnew window. Customer Service can register student if a seat is available.
