Nursing Refresher Classrooms: Hybrid Zoom Classroom  100 Hour Course

This course, in either Hybrid  “Zoom Live” classroom or Hybrid “Blackboard: format is designed for RNs and LPNs who desire to maintain or re-establish their active license to reenter the nursing field. Experienced nurses will review topics such as anatomy and physiology systems, major disease pathology, current treatment strategies and legal issues, pharmacology, physical assessment, nursing process, documentation, current trends, and end-of-life issues.

Nursing Refresher Classroom ▲ Hybrid Zoom Live Course: NUR077  100 Hours

This classroom is designed for RNs and LPNs who desire to maintain or re-establish their active license to re-enter the nursing field. This classroom section includes both LIVE Zoom lectures and in-person nursing skills lab practice.  Live Zoom lectures will include topics such as reviewing anatomy and physiology, major disease pathology, current treatment strategies, legal issues, pharmacology, physical assessment, nursing process, documentation, current trends, evidence-based practice, end of life issues, videos, discussion groups, and other learning activities. Concurrent enrollment in corresponding courses  NUR023 and NUR007.  Nurse Refresher program must be taken at Montgomery College.

Prerequisites:  Laptop, desk top computer with camera and microphone capabilities and internet browser; View Mandatory Online Nurse Refresher Orientation; must have an active or inactive RN or LPN license; must have graduated from an accredited nursing program.  

Upon Completion of Nursing Refresher, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the current social factors, trends, evidence-based practice, and ethical dilemmas facing nursing.
  2. Identify effective communication techniques utilized in the health care setting.
  3. Describe the implementation of standard precautions when providing patient care.
  4. Perform nursing procedures and use equipment according to guidelines.
  5. Prepare to administer medications.
  6. Discuss various means of documentation in the health care setting.
  7. Discuss legal aspects of nursing related to licensure, practice, and documentation.
