CNA Frequently Asked Questions
Learn more about the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Program at Montgomery College.
The CNA program is 12 weeks long and consists of classroom instruction, skills laboratory, and supervised clinical experience.
The program is offered at the Takoma Park/Silver Spring and Rockville campuses.
No. All classroom instruction, skills laboratories, and clinical experiences are conducted in person.
Class schedules vary depending on the campus option and assigned clinical location. The program may include a combination of evening classroom instruction, daytime skills laboratory sessions, and daytime or evening clinical rotations. Specific schedule information is provided during the mandatory information session.
Students may choose from the available clinical locations assigned to their specific campus option, based on availability.
Clinical locations cannot be swapped between campuses. Students enrolled in the Rockville campus may only choose from Rockville clinical locations, and students enrolled in the Takoma Park/Silver Spring campus may only choose from the clinical locations assigned to that campus.
Yes. Attendance is mandatory for all classroom, laboratory, and clinical sessions. Students must complete all required instructional and clinical hours.
To be considered for enrollment, applicants must complete all admission requirements listed on this page by the posted deadlines.
Additional information sessions or testing dates cannot be offered. Students who miss a required deadline must apply for a future cohort.
No. A waiting list is not available. Applicants who successfully complete all required admission steps may register on a first-come, first-served basis while seats remain available.
Students must be at least 16 years old. Students under 18 must submit the required parental permission documentation before registering.
What is the cost of the program?
The total tuition and fees for Maryland residents are $2,130*, which includes:
AHT 244 – Classroom & Skills Lab: $1,125
AHT 223 – Clinical: $1,005
Non-Maryland residents are charged an additional $650 Non-Maryland Resident (NMR)
fee per course.

Yes. Montgomery College is required to comply with the requirements established by each clinical facility. All required health and compliance requirements must be completed before attending clinical training and by a specific deadline. Additional information is reviewed during the mandatory information session.
No. Students must complete both through the screening system designated by the department. Previous results cannot be accepted.
Yes. Students must obtain an approved American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification.
